My Name

My name’s meaning changes where ever I am and who ever I'm with. For most people it means a hard working, quiet, soccer player. My soccer team, however, knows me as a crazy fun, killer soccer player. They always know that I’ll have their back on and off the field. My best friend knows my name to be a trusted one, one she can always count on whenever she calls it and one she will remember forever. My family knows me as one that gets miss judged by others a lot but never by them. They always know what is going on with me and how to help me. I stand for loyalty, hard work, and caring for those in need. It means I’ll never turn my back on those I love most and will support them no matter the cost.
What I find to be what others think when they say my name, is a strong girl. A leader. Someone who won’t lead them in the wrong direction but someone who always strives to lead them to success. My friends lean on me when they are in need of comfort; random strangers have even leaned on me before. My name is my reputation, my values, everything that I am and want to be. A lot is expected to come of my name and I will always try to reach that expectation.

Crucible Cast

I chose Josh Holloway as John Proctor for a number of reasons. First of all he looks like a rugged farmer, which is how Proctor is described physically in the play. Josh is also good looking and has very developed muscles like a farmer should. In Lost Josh’s character played a bad boy who was cheating on all sorts of girls. He also got together with Kate and then broke up with her to be with Juliet who was his first love. Thereby cheating on Juliet in the process. He fits as Proctor because he cheated but feels bad about it and doesn’t want to do it again.
John Proctor: Josh Holloway

Reverend John Hale-Michael Emerson

I chose Michael Emerson for John Hale because he looks like a young businessman. He has that know it all look on his face, and the vest completes the ‘best of the best ‘look. I picked him also because of the role he played on Lost. In Lost he was the man who thought he knew everything about the mysterious Island. The people he was in charge of respected him and they also believed everything he said. In the play John Hale has the same respect from the community.

Reverend Samuel Parris- Terry O’quinn

I chose Terry O’quinn for this role because he looks like he thinks he is above you. His smirk says I know more than you so just shut up. He has also played the role of a person with a higher power in Lost. In that role he believed whole-heartedly that he was above others and they should respect him more. Reverend Parris believes the same thing about himself in the play.

Abby Williams- Evangeline Lilly

I chose Evangeline Lilly for this role because of the role she played in Lost. She was the girl who was sleeping around with all the guys. She cheated on one man to be with Sawyer (Josh Holloway) then got rejected for Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell).  I also think she has that innocent on the outside but devilish on the inside look. She is also very pretty and young just like Abby.

 Elizabeth Proctor- Elizabeth Mitchell

I chose Elizabeth Mitchell because of the role she played in Lost. The relationship between Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) is just like the relationship between Abby and Goody Proctor. They hate each other and always suspect each other when wrongs are done. Kate cheated with Juliet’s man just like Abby cheated with Proctor. She isn’t as good-looking as Evangeline Lilly either, which is another thing she has in common with Goody Proctor.

Marry Warren-Emilie De Ravin

I chose this actor for this role because of a different role she played in Lost. She was the character Clair who became friends with Kate (Evangeline Lilly). She always thought Kate was a good friend but found out that she stole her child. In the Crucible Abby betrays her friends by making them lie about what they did in the forest. Kate betrays Clair in Lost; therefore she is a good choice for the role of Marry Warren.

Goody Rebecca Nurse- L. Scott Caldwell
I chose this actor for this part because she looks like a very caring and nice person. She also looks like she is comfortable with herself and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. In some roles she has played she is very much respected and loved. In her role in Lost she was one of the few people who hadn’t tried to kill, cheat, or steal.

Goody Ann Putnam- FIonnula Flanagan

I chose her for this role because she looks like an angry old woman.  She looks like she has been through a lot and wants revenge on someone. In the crucible Goody Putnam wants revenge on the people she believes caused her children to die. Also in some roles she has played she was a manipulative old woman trying to keep her son safe and happy.

Thomas Putnam- Alan Dale

I chose Alan Dale for this role because he has that businessman look to him. The suit he is wearing looks very nice and expensive which leads me to believe he is a wealthy man. I also chose him for the role he played in Lost. He was married to Flonnula Flanagan in the show so it’ll be easy to pretend to be married again. He also was a businessman in the show, always trying to get more power, just like Thomas Putnam.

Tituba-April Grace

I chose April Grace because she has the look of someone who has been through a lot. She has worn features but still looks smart. I mainly chose her because of the role she played in Lost. She was a slave to Alan Dale’s character and to Michael Emerson’s character. Also there was a scene where one of her prisoners begged her to do something and she did, and then got punished for it. Tituba did the same thing for Abby and her friends and it almost cost her life.

Sinners

Someone’s life is in your hands; it all depends on the pulling of a trigger. You don’t want to shoot him but he has a gun pointed at your little sister’s head. You must choose now or you both will die. His body hits the ground with a thud, it’s absolutely sickening but your both safe and that’s all that matters. This boy was ridiculed day and night for killing this man. What the boy thought was a gun was actually a knife. Either way his sister was in danger, but people called him a murder. He committed a sin in these people’s eyes and judged him as bad person automatically. Committing a sin doesn’t always mean you are a bad person because everyone makes mistakes, the sin may have been necessary, and there are many different definitions of sin.
Every person will make a mistake in his or her life they can’t help it. At one point in every person’s life we have committed what we believe to be a sin. Therefore the judgment that if a person commits sins they are a bad person cannot be correct. If that were true than everyone would be a bad person. Now its not true saying that if you kill someone in cold blooded murder that you can still be good inside. There are lots of people that sin and are bad people but the opposite is also true. Take for example, the people in the army. They sin for a living, killing people, but they are the people we most look up to. Their sinning is necessary to our safety in America.
If someone is attempting to kill your loved one, you will try to stop with any means necessary. The story that was told in the introduction was similar to something that happened in California a few years back. All the boy wanted to do was to have his sister live a long life. He had every good intention in his heart, when he pulled the trigger. The boy is a hero for saving a life, but because he had the “unfair advantage” of having a gun people scorned him. The man that broke into his house with the knife is the one that is a bad person. Regardless of what action he actually took, he had every bad intention in his heart. The true bad person is the one with bad intentions.
When someone asks a non-religious person what a sin is they will get a different answer than if they ask a Jew. A person’s definition of sin will change depending on where they come from. If you grew up in a gang, not killing the rival gang is a sin. If you’re a Jew than eating pork is a sin, the list goes on and on. You never know why a person is sinning, or if they even consider it a sin. Saying that someone is a bad person because of sin will almost never give you the right impression of a person.
A girl once heard another girl swear, she decided to not associate with that girl because of that one action. A year later she was lucky enough to get to know the girl that swore and they became friends. A person who sins is not always a bad person because no one is perfect, the sin could have saved lives, and it really all depends on what a sin means to them.
